Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Filling and Topping

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/8 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

How to Make the Cinnamon Coffee Cake Loaf

  1. Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 6 x 3-inch loaf pan.
  2. Stir together the brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add the melted butter until it is evenly distributed. Stir in the chopped walnuts, then set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and allspice. In another bowl whisk together the melted butter, sugar, sour cream, eggs and vanilla.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar, mixing until evenly blended. Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle half of the filling on top of this layer. Use a skewer or paring knife to swirl it in a bit.
  5. Top with the remaining batter, spread and then top with the remaining filling giving it another swirl.
  6. Bake the cake for 30 to 40 minutes, until a tester inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cinnamon coffee cake loaf in the pan to room temperature before slicing.

How to Store Cinnamon Coffee Cake Loaf

You can store this coffee loaf in an air-tight container and keep them on the kitchen shelf. It will last for up to 3 days. You can also refrigerate cinnamon coffee cake loaf, but the longer you refrigerate it, the drier it will become. Moreover, you can freeze it for up to 30 days. Frozen loaves have a longer shelf-life.
